It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
