Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
